Great idea – but I think it could be easily missed by some people.

The little arrow you used helps draw attention to it and is visually appealing, so it could be a workaround, especially if your followers got used to you adding the friend link in that spot.

For my stories, I prefer to use the kicker to mention my article's topic, since the tags are all the way at the bottom!
